A little over five minutes' drive away from our Middlesbrough HQ on Laurel Avenue you will find the new home of our two Middlesbrough-based volunteers.

After months of searching for a suitable property, Svetlana and Ivan were finally able to get their hands on the keys to Kids Kabin's first ever Assumption Volunteers' house a few weeks ago, and the whole team has been hard at work since then scouring charity shops for pre-loved furniture and other things to make it cosy and homely.
Good news for all of us
This means that rather than only being able to work in Middlesbrough two days each week as they've done for the last few years, Ivan and Svetlana now have a permanent base in North Ormseby in the town, increasing the number of sessions we can run, not only in our main building but across existing and new locations too!
Having only recently been recently painted, the rented property is in a lovely condition, which was a relief as houses were being snapped up as soon as they became available, so we'd already missed out on a number of places.
It was purely by chance that we were chatting with one of the managers at a centre we were using to deliver activities about how crowded the rental market was that he told us that Community Ventures Tees Valley had a two-bedroom house that would be available in just a few weeks.
Svetlana and Ivan have been welcomed into their new community and are now supported by parents to deliver activities to 45 children, including some in a new area of Middlesbrough that had asked for our support. If we hadn't found this house to enable our volunteers to be based here full time, this would not have been possible.
So thank you to everyone involved in helping to make this happen and happy new home to Svetlana and Ivan, whose work is invaluable to us!
