Following hot on the heels of our Kids Can Cook campaign, which led to grant donations of £2,050 in total from Tesco Community Grants, Asda Green Tokens and Waitrose respectively, to help us run cookery sessions for our members, we've now launched a new fundraising initiative, this time for our young mechanics!
As this wander into crowdfunding territory is new to us, we'll need all the help we can get to spread the word and find 20 'backers' by November 14th, which is when our campaign is being assessed by Crowdfund North of Tyne.
More info
As many of you know, we work closely with Recyke Y'Bike, another local charity that refurbishes and resells donated bicycles, and we've recently partnered to bring regular bike repair workshops to the streets of Byker and Walker in Newcastle.
We've now partnered again in the hope we can expand this work to reach 400 young people through a whopping 80 workshop sessions next year - an ambition that means we need to raise the funds needed to make it happen.
So we've joined Crowdfund North of Tyne and created a fundraising page for the Big East End Bike Fix Fund on Spacehive, which needs to have at least 20 donations by the assessment date to be successful.
What we need you to do
Visit and like our Big East End Bike Fix Fund page on Spacehive
If you can, become a 'backer' my making a pledge to support the fund

Ask them to become 'backers' and to share the page with those they know.
The campaign will run until January 31st, and if successful, the workshops, will begin in February, helping build life skills and confidence in more young people, and saving unwanted bikes from landfill.
Thank you for any support you can give the Big East End Bike Fix Fund. Every penny and every share is much appreciated.
