Thanks to the Garfield Weston Foundation for its ongoing support

You may remember back in 2022 we were chuffed to bits to be one of only 19 charities nationwide to be named a Weston Charity Awards winner. As part of this, we then spent a year gaining support as a partner charity of the Pilotlight 360 programme, whose team worked with us on our strategy and governance to ensure we can continually improve for the benefit of all our young people, both now and in the future.

But it didn't stop there, and we'd like to give a heartfelt thank you from everyone at Kids Kabin to the Weston Family Trustees who have kindly and generously agreed to champion us for another two years!

Their 24-month grant, which will be used to bolster Kids Kabin's core running and development costs between now and 2026, will help us provide more great experiences for our young members across Newcastle and Middlesbrough so they can enjoy learning new things, build confidence, and make friends.

Established in 1958, the Garfield Weston Foundation is a family-founded grant-maker that gives money to support a wide variety of charities across the UK. The foundation’s funding comes from an endowment of shares in the Weston family business – a successful model that still exists today. The Weston family have a consistent aim. The more successful the family businesses, the more money the foundation can donate.

Each year the foundation gives away its income and donations have continued to grow. Since it was established it has donated more than £1.5 billion, of which in excess of half has been given away in the past 10 years. In the most recent financial year the Foundation gave away more than £100 million to a little fewer than 1,800 charities across the UK.
